Founded in the 1950’s by Ronnie Gamble in this listed Georgian terrace, just off the Mall in Armagh City, a reputation for quality, clinical excellence and value for money was soon established.

In 1986 David Creswell joined Mr. Gamble in the practice and ‘Gamble and Creswell’ came into being in September 1990.

The house which is now 4 Russell Street, Armagh City is detailed in the ‘Local Registration of Title (Ireland) Act 1891 and ‘The Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts (Northern Ireland) 1899 – 1923’. A perpetuity lease made 31/10/1838 between Leo McKinstry and Samuel Gardner involved the yearly rent of £70 10 shillings and 2d. Loftus Troughton, a dentist was registered as owner in fee simple on
09 /01/1930.

James Zwecker of Tyrone became the registered owner in August 1954 and Ronnie Gamble had rooms on the 1st floor of the house when he established ‘SR Gamble Opticians’, whilst Mr. Zwecker carried on a ladies hairdressing business on the ground floor.

Samuel Roderick Gamble became the registered owner of the house in October 1970, and occupied the whole building. David Creswell bought the building in 1991.

Interestingly Mr. Troughton the dentist employed a Mr. Norman Creswell, a dental technician and local council member. The late Mr. Creswell seems to have been a well liked and respected member of the Armagh community, a fact which has not been lost on the present owner of the house who despite being unrelated, has many reasons to be grateful for his ‘predecessors’ good reputation and popularity across the community.
